As the Director of the Atlanta
SEEDs School®, I would like to extend to you a very special opportunity and
personal invitation to be one of our private sponsors.
The Atlanta SEEDs School® (Self
Esteem, Empowerment and Education through Dance) is a tween/teen mentorship
program for girls, incorporating American Tribal Style dance with an intimate
education program. The program allows girls to look at issues facing them now
and in the future, such as whether and where to go to college, how to deal with
social situations, the role of art in the community, how to care for the body
and mind, financial literacy and career interest/choices. Women from the
community who are successful in their field come to share their experiences with the girls,
giving an insight into a career or educational path, giving financial advice,
and speaking to specific interests of the group. Each day there is a discussion
time, and each girl keeps a journal of her experience. The dance element of the
program teaches a beautiful art form, encourages a sense of community, and
fosters a sense of self-acceptance through body movement and awareness. Atlanta
SEEDs School® is a valuable tool in assisting these girls to move into the
world with a better knowledge of themselves and the choices facing them.
The SEEDs concept was founded
by Myra Krien of Pomegranate Productions in 2001 and has been taught in seven
venues across the US. Atlanta SEEDs
School® is the first of its’ kind in Georgia. The Integrity of this program has
won the 2007 Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Business of Excellence Award, 2007
International Belly Dance Conference Award of Achievement in Middle Eastern
Dance, and 2006 Featured in Dance Magazine amongst numerous other awards.
As a former Ballerina,
Organizational Development Executive and Industrial Psychologist for large
companies, I believe that this cause propels our generation of young women
today to be prepared well for the future of our community. The Atlanta SEEDs School® makes it clear that
entrance into the program does not depend on demonstrated talent, standard
beauty or the ability to pay fees the program would require.
Your sponsorship will
therefore help us to:
· Continue to provide this exceptional program to girls,
regardless of their ability to pay,
· Provide performance opportunities during the
school year,
· Provide a salary for the teachers and space to dance
in.
Thank you for your support,
whether as an audience member, dancer or donor. We hope we can rely on your
support in any or all of these capacities.
In Deepest Gratitude,
Liezel Lane
